Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our approach, logistics, billing, and scheduling.

About Therapy & Approach

Do I have to be a Christian to receive services?
No. Emerging Hearts welcomes adult clients of all faiths, backgrounds, and personal philosophies. We provide compassionate, evidence-based clinical therapy to everyone. Christian counseling is offered as an option for clients who actively desire biblical integration into their healing process, but it is never imposed.
What does caring for the "whole person—spirit, soul, and body" mean?
Emotional struggles rarely exist in a vacuum. Trauma and chronic stress affect your nervous system, sleep, and physical vitality (body), your thought patterns and emotional health (soul), and your sense of purpose and meaning (spirit). Our integrative approach addresses how all three dimensions work together so you experience deep, lasting wholeness.

Telehealth & Virtual Sessions

How do virtual therapy sessions work across North Carolina?
Sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform. Virtual sessions are accessed directly through your client portal using a laptop, tablet, or smartphone from anywhere in North Carolina—including Fayetteville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Greensboro, and rural communities.
Is virtual therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
Yes. Numerous clinical studies confirm that telehealth counseling yields clinical outcomes equivalent to in-person sessions for trauma, anxiety, depression, and couples counseling. Many clients find that attending therapy from the comfort and privacy of their own home reduces anxiety and makes opening up easier.

Insurance & Payments

Which insurance plans do you accept?
We are in-network with 12 major health plans: Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), TRICARE East, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), UHC Community Plan / Medicaid, Healthy Blue, AmeriHealth Caritas, Carolina Complete Health, Ambetter, CHAMPVA, MedCost PPO, and Oscar Health. We also accept private self-pay and HSA/FSA cards.
What is a Good Faith Estimate under the No Surprises Act?
If you are self-pay or uninsured, federal law entitles you to receive an estimate of the total expected cost of your care before your first appointment. We review all session fees transparently so you never receive an unexpected bill.

Getting Started

What happens during the free 15-minute discovery call?
The discovery call is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation. You can share what you are going through, ask questions about your therapist's approach or insurance, and decide together if Emerging Hearts is the right fit for your goals. If so, we will schedule your comprehensive intake session. You can book your free 15-minute consultation directly here.
How do I log in to the Client Portal?
Established clients can access appointments, telehealth links, and billing documents anytime by visiting the Emerging Hearts Client Portal.
